Fila cadet world team trials

Open, Coon alternated between the two, posting a record on the day and outscoring his opponents, Black struggled to stay on the mat with Coon, who earned three pushouts in the first match before breaking it open with a pair of takedowns and a two-point leglace midway through the second. He scored on five pushouts and a counter takedown in the first frame of the subsequent bout before using a bodylock to launch Black and pin him early in the second.

His route to the Greco was similar as Coon shut out Sam Stoll, , in the first match before rallying from a second-period deficit to earn a late pin at the mark. He scored on a first-period bodylock and second-period gut wrench in the first match and lead, , at the break in the second when Stoll stole the lead on a takedown and pushout midway through the second period.

Coon earned two pushouts in the final 32 seconds to retake the advantage and countered a late Stoll throw attempt to secure his second pin of the afternoon. Here he sits in the best-of-three championship finals after defeating Micic IN in impressive fashion in Las Vegas. Both guys finished off each opponent by technical fall on the way to the finals.

The real intrigue for me at the weight class is the variety of ages and lack of past match-ups between the competitors. Remember that Fix is a high school sophomore that exempted into the age group, while Cruz just finished his sophomore year at Lehigh.

I am taking Cruz to reverse the outcome this time around. In order to win he needs to convert quickly to stay away from counter exposures and letting Fix get multiple opportunities in per terre.

The odd thing is that they were at three different weight classes. McKee and Brock faced off in the semi-final at lbs with McKee winning on the way to the title. Harding took 5th at lbs and Zacherl was the runner-up at lbs. Keep an eye on Zacherl.

After competing at higher weight classes in the past 61kg seemed to be a good weight with day-before weigh-ins. Championship Series Prediction: Brock Zacherl over Gary Wayne Harding I am kind of hesitant to pick against the champ here because of the advantage of sitting until the best-of-three series.

I am going to pick him on his performance there and assume he will be the same wrestler. Who could be disappointed with that? After dominating the bouts with Retherford in the trials process last year Pico found himself in a dogfight in Las Vegas. Jack showed amazing improvement in the Wolfpack room over the season before it becoming necessary for him to be pulled from his red-shirt very late in the season.

Three outstanding graduating seniors also join the mix in the challenge tournament. Vincenzo Joseph PA seemed to progress a great amount his senior year and leads the way. This series could get chippy. Las Vegas answered some questions, but there are plenty more to be answered. Reis and Short both placed above Ashnault in Vegas and Hall and Gross are two of the best high school seniors in the country who will also be in the mix here.

I think Retherford will grind through the challenge tournament and I suspect that he will make some adjustments and close the gap on Pico to make an entertaining final series. Breakdown : WOW! What a freakin weight class!

Valencia is the lucky dog here who doesn't have to worry about the meat-grinder challenge tourney that will take place. Throw in Univ of Illinois redshirt stud Martinez, who lost a last minute slugfest to Valencia in the Vegas finals, along with the rest of the hammers listed above and this challenge tournament will be edge of your seat action from the beginning to the end.

I am leaning towards Martinez to survive the challenge tournament for a rematch with Valencia in the finals, but I think regardless you have to give an advantage to Valencia in the finale for the mere fact that he can sit back and relax and just worry about winning two matches to make the world team.

Breakdown : Wisconsin freshman Robertson gets to sit back and watch this loaded challenge tournament unfold, and will surely have his hands full in the finals with whoever is still standing after the dust settles here.

Nebraska freshman Dudley pushed Robertson in the Vegas finals, and Cornell phenom Gabe Dean is super dangerous and capable of beating anyone here after finishing 3rd in the NCAA as a freshman. Dechow lost to Dean in the cons.
