There are many differences besides just being hand-wired. Joined: Aug 28, Messages: 1, Likes Received: Marshallmaniac and Username2 like this.
They're practically te same, turn em' both on, shut your eyes and tell me which is which, I dare ya. Marshallmaniac , Jan 28, Joined: May 1, Messages: 5, Likes Received: 3, I do know that the HW allows the player to vary the negative feedback based on what speaker output is being used. I can't remember the specific details right now, but I seem to remember that the output transformer is wired up to the 4 ohm and 16 ohm outputs in such as way that one output will result in more negative feeedback than the other.
The manual provides a written description of how using a cabinet at 4 ohms will sound different from using the same cabinet in the 16 ohms output. I can't remember too much about how the sound is affected when using two cabinets, but you can get more accuarate information by reading the HW manual. I have telephoned just about every Marshall dealer here in OZ and no one stocks them for me try. I even rang the OZ distributer to see if they had them and no they don't Its only something they import if an order is placed Pitty as I'm so keen to try one. Don't really want to get into which ones because they were all really good Marshall type amps but the HW can get the best cleans and still bring the heat.
I actually like the combination of both MV and Aracom to get it perfect. And lastly, I use a split cable for guitar into both channels to jumper instead of a single cable to jumper. It isn't a tone but I love what it is. Nothing in the world wrong with HW. I agree with who said its what else you can get for the same or in a lot of cases less money that turn a lot of people off to them. Anyone that gets one certainly won't be disappointed, its a great amp that uses great components.

Messages 14, I've just bought a Marshall HW. I've heard youtube clips of it including a Johan Segeborn big vintage plexi shootout and I think the amp sounds great but the HW gets a lot of stick around here for not being accurate etc, but what do they get wrong and how does this relate in sound? Messages 2, But is there an actual sound difference or just different construction? Different sound due to different specs Reissue is closer to Old Greenback speakers have a ton to do with the sound.
There are YouTube videos inside the Marshall plant where the Turret Boards are hand built, then the boards are installed into the chassis, at the time a couple of ladies hand soldering etc. You must log in or register to reply here.
